It features thermal cladding to dissipate heat in an efficient manner while cooling components and improving the overall performance of the product. Currently, aluminum backplane PCBs are considered the solution for high power and tight tolerance applications.

Thermal conductivity in lighting:

Thermal conductivity can be critical to dissipating heat from an LED board.

Standard FR4 material has the lowest thermal conductivity at about 0.3W/MK.

Standard CEM3 material thermal conductivity is generally higher than average FR4 material thermal conductivity. However, there are also unique CEM-3 materials with an even higher thermal conductivity of 1,0-1,2W/MK (usually, CEM-3 materials have lower flexural strength and higher thermal expansion than FR4, so CEM -3 has lower mechanical durability compared to FR4).

The thermal conductivity of standard aluminum is generally higher than the average thermal conductivity of typical FR4 and CEM-3, around 1,0-2,2W/MK (or even higher).
